Our Agency was established in 1868 by the Rife family. It was the first Agency in the United States to issue a flood insurance policy on a bridge; the old Clarks Ferry Bridge which crossed the Susquehanna River at Duncannon. In 1941, J. Lerue Hess purchased the Agency from the Rife family. After being discharged from World War II, James G. Ford went to work for his father-in-law. His son, James G. Ford, II entered the business in 1970. The Agency continues business after almost 140 years of continuous operation. We have served up to 5 generations in some families, and represent some of the finest Companys in the industry.
